Some exciting news!

Bethal Primary School is excited to announce that the students and teachers will be designing and planting an Outdoor Sensory and Tranquillity Garden in May 2020. This garden will provide an outdoor learning space for all classes, offering the opportunity for students to learn about nature, science and the environment.

Hume City Council is providing funding and support for the development of our school garden through the Schools for Nature project, with funding from the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) under the Caring for Our Local Environment (COLE) Grant.

The school has also been successful with our application for a Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant for our garden project. Bethal Primary School is one of 617 primary schools and early learning centres throughout Australia receiving a Woolworths Junior Landcare grant to help grow our next generation of environmental champions. The grants are being funded with money made from the sale of the Woolworths recyclable Bag for good™ which was launched in 2018 when the supermarket stopped using single-use plastic bags.

All students and teachers are looking forward to working and learning from the development of our garden project and we’ll keep you updated on our progress.
